 *The Minimum Standards for Jails

These reports show exactly how these ten jail recently failed inspections:

Edwards County

Hopkins County

Pecos County

San Jacinto County

Stephens County

Sutton County

Trinity County

Van Zandt County

Wheeler County

Currently, these reports can be seen on the TCJS website, but once the jail is back in compliance, they are removed from this website and to see them requires that you make an Public Information request. That’s time-consuming and hard to keep up with, but we are working on getting as many of these reports as possible.

Our hope is to track the jails that are repeat offenders and find patterns within jails over time—for example, a jail that whose jailers are repeatly cited for not doing the mental health screening correctly or ones where the kitchen is not up to code and the inmates don’t receive hot meals but instead, a bologna sandwich, 3 times a day.
