Notes and Summary

• The Hudspeth Co. Jail was inspected by an inspector with the State Fire Marshal’s Office on May 5, 2017 and the following deficiencies were still present at the time of this TCJS annual inspection. They are as follows:1. The sprinkler system inspection tag does not indicate the “type of Inspection, Test and Maintenance” performed. The current inspection label indicates the last inspection was conducted on February 28, 2017
• 2. The fire sprinkler system information data plate is missing;
• 3. Provide documentation the sprinkler heads have been tested;
• 4. Wires are attached to the sprinkler piping in the riser room;
  5. The fire sprinkler pipe hanger appears to be loose due to the sprinkler head is no longer flush mounted in the sally port hall;
  6. There is a missing escutcheon ring around the sprinkler head in the sally port hall;
• 7. The sprinkler head is covered with paint in the sally port hall;
  Comments Inspections, Maintenance, Testing. All life safety equipment shall be inspected, maintained, and tested by persons qualified to do so (whether under vendor contract, by state or private agency or otherwise) in order that such equipment shall be safe, secure, and fully operative at all times.
  8. There are large penetrations present in the telephone switch room, providing a path for smoke and heat to traverse above the corridor ceiling before possibly being detected by the fire sprinkler system;
  9. The fire sprinkler pipe in the electrical room is capped off and no sprinkler coverage is provided in this room adjacent to the pantry. Evaluate if the sprinkler coverage was originally designed for this room;
  10. The designated exit door does not open in the direction of exit travel;
  11. The library lacks a required occupant load sign;
  12. The base of a fire alarm system component and its wires still remain in place in the
  library closet. Evaluate if detection coverage was originally designed for this room;
  13. The standpipe connection in the “F, G” pipe chase lacks a current inspection tag
