Baylor County submitted an operation plan on January 22, 2013, stating the cells would only be used for the safety and security of the inmates brought to the Baylor County Courthouse for court appearances. This plan was approved by the commission on January 24, 2023. Baylor County is currently using the court holding cells to temporarily house inmates who are awaiting transfer to other counties following arrest. Staff will cease using court-holding cells for new arrests immediately.
During the walk through of the court holding cells it was determined the toilet/lavatory combos had been removed due to corrosion.
The fire official inspection was last conducted on February 21, 2022. This placed the inspection overdue by 15 months.
